Date of birth n star? February 1st- Aquarius
When did you start ur career? I started with Radio Pakistan Islamabad as a music show host in 1992, Television as an anchor person in 1994 and FM Radio in 1995.
What inspired you to take up the job of a radio jockey? When FM 100 was launched in Pakistan, I was contacted by one of their board members to come in for an audition based on my 4 year undefeated title of Best Debator in Pakistan. It was a delight when not only was I selected but was the first female voice to go live on air from FM 100.
Who is your inspiration in this field? Since I was the first female voice to go on air for FM 100 and there were no music stations of their kind prior to FM 100 in Pakistan, my inspiration was actually a US based RJ called Delilah.
How would you define the responsibilities of a radio jockey? To do justice to their target audience! Each show, each time slot has an exclusive listener ship and the RJ for that airtime must be able to offer them entertainment according to their demographics. Clarity of words, command over language, appropriate tone, accurate pronunciation, respect and politeness and diversity to keep them coming back is essential as it your voice that makes the connection with them without the support of appearance, facial expressions and gestures which can be used on TV.
Your favorite anchors radio & TV both in new & old lot? Since I have been away from Pakistan for the last 8 years, im not sure about the new anchors but from the earlier lot (1990’s) its Tauseeq Haider, Shamoon Hashmi and timelessly its Zia Moheiuddin (for his absolute command over both English and Urdu coupled with a very captivating voice)
Your favorite celebrities? Angelina Jolie for her exemplary work for refugee children with the UNHCR and her well grounded approach despite being an extremely desired and accomplished actress.
Ur assets of life? My countless blessings from Allah- The endless support and wisdom from my Parents and sister, the selfless love from my supporters and fans, the companionship of my husband and now the true joy of my baby boy!
Fav food? Thai food & Brain Masala.
Your favorite time of the day & why? Dawn- As each new hour brings new chances for new beginnings.
Being a creative skill, radio jockeying calls for regular innovation in order to avoid monotony. How do you go about it? Think beyond your self and your popularity. Its not about you its about the listeners, do research, keep yourself informed about their feedback, be flexible to incorporate changes without loosing your niche, trust your instincts and learn to admit mistakes, correct and rectify them and move on towards betterment.
What is the mantra for a successful radio jockey? It’s an art- there are no rules but for success there needs to be an intense desire, a passion. If you are doing it for the money- the line of fame will descend fast. If you are doing it because this is your true love, your fans will be your fame!
Its essential to reach out to progress and to move forward but in the name of modernization imperative not to forget that one is an ambassador to ones heritage, culture, language, roots, values and morals.
Your favorite movie actors/actresses? Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Kierra Knightly, Tabu.
Ur all time favorite song? Boom Boom remix.
How do you update yourself to carry out your day-to-day job? By doing a performance review for each day that I have taken in that particular role. Self critiquing my work and challenging my self for a finer job the next day.
Ur best friend in life? Rabia Qazi
Three things u never forget to take with u while going out? A copy of Surah-Yasin, chap stick and a wallet.
Ur passions in life? Reaching out to the world with my talent on Radio and TV. Photojournalism specializing in mother and child sessions.

Which TV shows u enjoy watching? Chris Angel- Mindfreak.

Where you see your life after five years? Inshallah back in Pakistan and back in media- that is my goal and I pray to allah that I will succeed.
Define Ur self in THREE words You know me!
Give Ur one best and one worst habit Im very honest and I am addicted to falsay.
Any message for Ur fans/listeners?
Its very easy to judge people in the limelight. Yes you have the right to do so, but give them your support; after all it takes a lot of confidence and courage to put ones self and talent up on a pedestal with a blaring spotlight that reveals it all. Always thank allah for the immense blessings which we may be out of focus when times are hard but that is the true test of oneself. Do not be wedded to fear, bonded to self doubt, drowned by self pity, yoked eternally to brutishness, lift up your souls with the purest thoughts, believe in your abilities, unveil your talents and soar to the multifarious heights of success.
What’s Ur opinion about showbizhungama.com? It’s a delightful portal for entertainment and showbiz updates.
Ur education? I have been educated in the arts ,sciences and humanity- have been taught music, literature, computer sciences, painting, fashion design, photography, business management, advertising and graphic design, nutrition- educated to be aware, sensitive towards others, to be patient and caring, to be gentle and confident and to be the best that I can. Degrees are the worldly calculation of how much one has studied but cannot compare to what one has learnt!
Given three options which one u choose & why: i) fame ii) money iii) power? Power- its all about perspective. For me having the power to control my shortcomings to make my self a better human being is the most important as with improvement, if desired will come the other two- fame and money.
When u meet someone for the first time which thing u observe the most? Their vibes- what kind of aura do they emit when interacting with me. Their hands and feet- these can tell a lot without saying a word.
Ur favorite perfume? Vanilla
What is your strongest point? My self-confidence
Ur weakest point? The grief of being away from Pakistan weakens me which affects my ability to do my finest.
Do you read?? What kind of books do you like? I read a lot- no particulars, from newspapers, to articles, magazines, classics, online stories, reports, stories... Give me any text and I will read it!
Whom do u love most in world........... beside Ur mom and dad My love is not limited to one person J (I really cannot choose one between my sister, my husband and my baby)
Whom do u attribute ur success to? My parents who always believed in my talents and supported me even when the world initially raised an eyebrow towards girls in the media.
What is the one thing that you miss after becoming rich and famous. I will let you know when that happens.
What u like to eat most. Fresh Fruits
What are the plans you have in mind for future. A plan is just an idea until implemented successfully. I aim to move back to Pakistan
Ur craziest fan? Im not qualified to judge any ones mental state J My most expressive fan was a young boy from a small village who sent me fan mail every week and what started from a one page letter ended up with 700 foot long letter filled with wishes, poems, paintings, crafts and information!
You deal with the public directly. There must be various experiences you have had while talking to callers. Can you share some of the more unusual ones? I was extremely fortunate that my style was received with warmth and respect by all my listeners. Every one who ever called during the show always called me “Baji” regardless of their age- it was the utmost reflection of how they had welcomed me as one of their own! I was most honored when one caller who had just had a baby girl called to let me know that their family had named the baby Saman after being inspired by my personality.
