Aiman Vivacious, charming and immensely talented Aiman looks like a typical girl next door. This Kuwaiti born actress cum model is far from being one-dimensional. During a conversation with her, one aspect of her personality unfolded another.
The vertical graph of her career and the outstanding success of her serials clearly shows that she is well on the way to become an 'A' list hot chattel.
Though she is simple but she knows that value of maintaining fame is higher enough than getting it. So she is working hard to get her visit visa to the tinsel town, substituted by a permanent immigration.
From worked in Zeba Bakhtiar's 'Babu' to entertained people through TV performances, Aiman has earned her fair share of fame. Though initially, she did not earn blessings of her mother who opposed.
to her idea of a career in film Industry but had to change her mind and consented after Aiman was approached by a big name of the tinsel town, Zeba Bakhtiar, who later offered Aiman a role in her film.
For Aiman worked with Zeba didn't prove as a pleasant experience. "I consider Zeba Bakhtiar to be a thorough professional in all respects but as far as my experience with her is concerned, her attitude was non-professional.
The whole episode with Zeba left a bitter taste in my career. The character she offered me in 'Babu' was thought to be of leading importance. As the shooting went on and the movie was completed,
my character was edited and the final result was that the role that was supposed to be main and powerful became almost insignificant! Some other person even dubbed on my voice, which is not a usual practice."
Aiman is a simple girl, but never tries her hand on something, which she doesn't believe in. "Showbiz has never been an objective to me. Infact, it just happened when somebody challenged me that I'm not capable enough to do it.
In order to prove myself I entered this field and soon carved my own niche. I was more towards business of my own. Still I'm working on that. Soon you will be having me as an owner of a beauty saloon. It's in the renovation stage and it will be open to all soon" Aiman cheerfully shares the breaking news of her life.
Aiman feels more comfortable working for small screen and calls her experience to be wonderful. Her comfort and poise in performing her characters reminds one of the great names of yesteryears such as Khalida Riyasat and Roohi Bano.
When asked as to how she felt working with the big names of the silver and small screens, Aiman replied promptly, "all those artists that I worked with were great company to work with.
I learned a lot from them as they were all very supportive and guided me through out. As far as movies are concerned, Saud and Reema are good teachers and they both guided me a lot.
However, Noor seems pretty unpredictable, as her moods would swing so quickly that one is left wondering on his own as to what and where anything went wrong.
She has earned admiration for her performances as glamorous model as well as an impressive performer on big and small screens by masses. Perhaps because quality is what Aiman emphasises on and for that according to her, she gets a positive feedback from audience.
"Best critics of my work are the audience who are the main source of motivation for me. I have always tried not to compromise when it comes to quality. I always go for the roles, which promise something significant. Something that may create some sort of a solid impact on the viewers."
Aiman believes that censorship blocks the way of creativity. When comparing foreign channels with local channels, she considers them to be far more glamorous, technically sound and creative that supports even an inexperienced performer.
On the contrary, local channels lack these qualities resulting in huge financial loss. She fervently expressed that stereotypical trends should be changed that is responsible for monotony in the field.
"The pace at which the entertainment media is progressing in the world is simply remarkable. But in that perspective when we look at our productions we really feel something big missing out here," she says in a dejected tone.
But what is the reason of this dilemma and what should be the controlling measure. "Well! I think it's the low budget of our productions, which has adversely affected the quality of our productions.
It looks as so many unwanted people have joined the rat race without having adequate understanding of the medium. They want maximum profits with lesser input of resources and that is exactly what responsible for quality deficiency and deterioration."
Aiman feels that the paucity of professionalism in our film industry contributes an ample role in declining cinema in Pakistan. However, she has good words for the old Paki flicks, which she rates as comparable to the Indian flicks.
"Today nobody seems serious with the films. The same old crap is being churned out for the same market. Don't we need to get out of the mould to have an access to new markets? Everywhere in the world cinema is growing but.
its irritating to see that we are content what we are up to and no efforts are being made to even change the subjects of the films. I have myself found how unprofessionally things are dealt here.
Nothing is planned. An artiste doesn't know that what he would have to do on reaching the sets. Scenes are shot in the same haphazard way and the recent blow of flops is an instant instance of the whole episode...
I guess its time we should define our priorities and set our goals so that any chance of further regression can possibly be eliminated," prophesises Aiman.
Aiman takes people who act in a snobbish as disgusting. "I can't stand people with high noses who brags about themselves and considers other to be nonentities. In my opinion, let your work speak for you and make others appreciate you."
Aiman feels that with the passing time an artiste grows and positively transforms due to a natural trial and error process. She feels that what she knows today, she wasn't aware of five years before when she registered herself as a new resident of the showbiz villa.
"The more you live here the more better you understand things. I feel that I had never been serious with the showbiz previously, as I had never found anybody serious out there.
But with the passage of time when fame and appreciation became my steady companion, I realised that I have so many things to do. I felt a sudden increase in my responsibilities.
Also my family kept asking me to show my worth. So, I rescheduled myself and decided to prove myself as an actress of substance. Now, I'm working painstakingly on my roles and characters and going for the projects, which are sound in terms of quality and subject.
Celebrities have to face many challenges in general life as being in the limelight people associate more expectations from them. Does she agree with the phenomena? "Yes its true.
Even people in your own family expect a lot from you. Everybody wants to have a fair share of our attention. But if its even slightly less than what they expect, it easily make us snob or arrogant before them.
An artiste is a human being and like any other normal person has his/her moods too. So, he must be given those excuses too which a normal person enjoys in his normal life in normal circumstance."
Artistes while accepting the roles keep certain parameter to evaluate the role offered. Aiman being a simple, straight forward person made me laugh when she innocently told that.
"Mein to boriyat main aksar kayee role sign kar laytee hoon." However, later she explained that a good team and a solid role are the basic criteria of accepting a role. "I prefer to work less. I don't want to keep signing what is coming my way.
I think I'm quite a senior artiste now and we should let newcomers join this field as well. We should encourage them so that they can make a place for themselves. If you work less people start speculating as if you are no more in demand, which is a wrong notion."
List of Aiman's work on tube consists of some memorable plays and serials like 'Pushtawa', 'Sonehray Bandhan', 'Tum Meray Ho' directed by Sikandar Shah, 'Sangam' directed by 'Ali Rizvi' and 'Jeet' by Muhammad Buksh Samejo.
In her upcoming serials, she relates her high expectation from a serial called 'Dard' and another serial with Manzoor Magsi. "In all of these serials, you will find me in totally different roles that I have never performed before. I guess as an artiste we should be ready to perform anything challenging and worth doing."
