Katie Holmes' basement rebellion
Katie Holmes' parents would have "locked her in the basement" if she had been a rebellious teenager.
The actress - who has a two-year-old daughter Suri with husband Tom Cruise - admits her parents were very strict when she was growing up, and wouldn't have approved if she started drinking alcohol and dating boys.
She said: "I was quite shy at parties and I always had an early curfew. It was kind of like, 'Oh, hey, the party is starting - I've got to go.' But I had fun in high school. I did go to parties - I went to football games, the movies and I went to all the dances.
"I wasn't the one who was bringing kegs of beer though. I wouldn't be sitting here today if I did that, that's for sure, because I would be locked up in the basement still. My parents would have done something to me."
Katie also revealed she found it hard to meet boys because her father Martin hated her having boyfriends.
She added to Britain's OK! magazine: "My dad always tried to intimidate boys because he is quite tall. So I always dated very nice boys and got home early!"
